I stayed at the Ra Initiative in May, 2025, for about a week.
Ra, situated deep in the Peruvian Amazon, is a community that lives and works in harmony with Mother Nature and is lovingly cared for by the founder, Keith Tierney, and local residents.
During my time here, I was able to totally immerse myself in the workings of the farm, learn about different medicinal plants, explore the surroundings, and join in the making of Sangre de Grado.
I also participated in an Ayahuasca ceremony, which was amazing.
I would recommend RA to anyone who is looking for an holistic, grounded, one of a kind experience in the Amazon, with loads of genuine integrity thrown in.

My visit to the Ra Initiative was nothing short of magical. The journey itself—a breathtaking boat trip along the Amazon—was an experience in its own right, bringing me deep into the heart of the jungle. Once there, I found myself in the most calming and spiritual place imaginable. The air was filled with the gentle sounds of animals and insects, a constant reminder of the life all around.
Every meal was incredibly fresh, full of flavor, and clearly prepared with care.
The absolute highlight for me was a serene canoe trip down the tributaries at dusk—an unforgettable blend of stillness, beauty, and connection with nature.
Andro, the local Shaman was outstanding. His deep knowledge of the rainforest, including plant medicine, was inspiring, and his excellent English made the experience even richer. The Ra Initiative is a rare treasure, and I left feeling grounded, renewed, and grateful.
